Dialysis & Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
Moises was admitted to the hospital and stayed for 4 days. Doctors said he had 3% kidney function left. They placed a temporary catheter near his neck to start dialysis. Once he was discharged from the hospital, they removed the catheter and said he would need to get a temporary once placed and removed every time he needs treatment. His insurance coverage does not kick in until January. In the meantime, he still needs dialysis treatments 3 times a week and each treatment costs about $400. That does not incude the ER visits to get the catheter placed and removed each time.
We have a few family members and friends who have offered to donate a kidney for Moises. Insurance will cover part of the transplant but we still have a portion to pay out of pocket. He is still very young and has 3 kids that need him to stick around for much longer. With the transplant he has a major probabilty to live a longer healthier life without the need to get dialysis.
