ALS Research 2 Honor StephenHawking

Stephen Hawking advanced our understanding of the universe and of what it means to be human.

He died yesterday of ALS, at the incredibly ripe old age of 76.

I am 34, I live in Santa Barbara with my baby boy Carl and my wife Rachael. I have ALS, and a life expectancy of about 2-3 more years. There is still no cure and no good treatment.

Please consider donating $7.60 or $76 in honor of Stephen's memory.

All money will go to the  ALS Therapy Development Institute to fund crucial research. 

ALS TDI is a nonprofit research organization fully dedicated to combating ALS. You can read about them online. Their main project right now involves getting the drug prospect AT-1501 into a clinical trial. (Disclosure: I have participated in some of TDI's patient surveys and research and its employees have given me some advice about living with ALS, but I have no formal relationship with the organization.)

When this campaign is over I will withdraw the funds to my bank account and mail TDI a check for the full withdrawal.
