Hi, my name is Marie and my cat, Aki means everything to me.

He has been with me through thick and thin over the last 13 years.

We became especially bonded during the covid years. He has helped me more than words can say during the tougher times of life.

My sweet Aki is currently going through chemotherapy for small cell lymphoma. He was diagnosed in April 2025.

He is half way through chemotherapy to put the lymphoma into remission. The treatment is long and is expected to finish in March 2026.

He is doing well and fighting the cancer. He has definitely experienced ups and downs through this journey. However, he still enjoys life, watching birds on the balcony, purring, cuddling and playing. He loves to eat and be with his favourite humans. He follows me around like a puppy.

Aki is a gentle and kind spirit with big soulful eyes.

Don’t let those angel eyes fool you though; he is an also a smart and intuitive little creature and has a cheeky streak.

We are struggling a bit with the heavy financial burden that comes with the veterinary treatment and medication. We predict the remaining treatment will cost about 6000 pounds. This will include the chemotherapy itself which has been switched from IV to oral and is administered at the vet clinic.

As well as this he is on supportive medication and supplements to give him the best chance of putting this cancer into remission.

His vet has told me the prognosis is positive with the best case scenario being the cancer will never come back. The worst case scenario would be up to two years of remission and a high quality of life. I am praying that it is the former.
