Aidan Lawson's Fight

Hi I am Ann Sidoti. I am asking for help for my dear friends Carey and Mike Lawson who have become family to me  in our town Voorheesville, to support their son  Aidan, who has been suffering from life altering and debilitating Lyme, Bartonella and Babesia (parasitic tick infection) and Autoimmune Disease since November 2019.

 Aidan is an avid soccer player who has played for premier clubs and school for over 10 years. Regrettably, he has not been able to participate in any activity since October 2021, due to extreme fatigue.

Aidan has been suffering since November 2019, starting with excruciating stomach pain and daily vomiting. He has seen 2 gastroenterologists, (including an endoscopy and colonoscopy )and Infectious Disease Md but , this medical team could not come up with a diagnosis. He was medically excused from school (pre-Covid) in January 2020 . Aidan had an appointment at the Boston Children's Hospital in March 2020 however, his appointment was cancelled due to Covid. After the Covid delay, he has had Xrays, Ultrasounds, blood work and even an ER visit with no results.

Aidan has continued to have daily stomach pains and extreme fatigue. 

     Entering his Junior year, Aidan could still not get out of bed during the day even to attend "remote' classes as he had Lyme symptoms including night sweats, fever, fatigue and insomnia. At his lowest point In November 2020, he began to have recurrent fevers of 101-103 degrees , insomnia, night sweats, headaches, brain fog,joint pain, depression/anxiety, and neurological symptoms (numbness/ weakness in his legs) all he still currently suffers with. His fevers make it very difficult to see medical experts during Covid.

 He was evaluated by an Endocrinologist who diagnosed him with Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism. 

 Aidan went to the Stram Center for Integrative Medicine in Delmar, NY.in March 2021.  After 17 vials of blood was drawn, he was finally diagnosed with Lyme, Bartonella and Babesia. The treatments here are extremely expensive and not covered by insurance.

   He has taken  6 different antibiotics and 3 different anti- malaria drugs with no improvement.

 

 Aidan is now a Senior and is not able to attend high school classes in person which is devastating for him, his family, his school community, coaches, classmates and his friends. He has been taken off all pharmaceuticals and is currently on natural supplements. Aidan has undergone acupuncture, hyperbaric oxygen treatments, massage treatments and IV treatments.

Currently, Aidan now is followed by a new Lyme specialist in Rhinebeck. The Lawsons are extremely hopeful for answers, however, these tests and treatments are very costly and are not covered by insurance.  Aidan will be going to the Boston Children's Hospital this Tuesday for more assessments.
