Aid for Linville NC and surrounding area

Linville is a small mountain town on the edge of the Sugar Mountains, deep in the western side of North Carolina. It has been greatly affected by the recent Hurricane Helene, and their need for assistance is undeniable.

Myself, with a number of other men from the Steubenville area, will be going down to Linville on Friday, October 11th, to help. Simon Dart, a long time friend and the owner of Arrival Transportation out of Wilmington, NC, will be joining us. We have been in touch with the staff from Saint Bernadette Catholic Church in Linville, NC, where we will be based. We will return Thursday, October 17th.

I have spoken with the director of the parish, and they are in desperate need of manpower and 4WD trucks to deliver goods to secluded parts of the community, including removing trees that have fallen on family homes. This is how we will be supporting them when we arrive.

There is also a very real need for monetary support. Almost everyone has lost their jobs and still has mortgages and bills to pay. There are still many communities lacking water, sewer, or power. All the utilities have been completely ripped away by the hurricane effects.

The money donated will be used for the specific needs of the families. Every day the needs look different. For example, on Monday, the need was overwhelmingly for foods like spaghetti sauce or other canned goods. In the mountains, winter is coming fast, and many families will need items to stay warm in the winter. The need for help is undeniable, and therefore we feel the Lord calling us to personally help this community in this way.
