Aid Electra and Mischa's Healing Journey

Hello,
my name is Lynda and I’ve known Electra Langley for over 20 years; I’ve known her since my daughter Amye Hill and she became good friends many years ago!

Five days ago, our friend, Electra, returned home from work and took her sweet dog Mischa out for a walk. They were walking on the sidewalk in their neighborhood, approaching a parked SUV, when both Electra and her dog Mischa were completely blindsided by a large unleashed Pit Bull jumping out of the SUV window, lurching straight toward Mischa. Despite Electra’s quick instincts to try to put herself between the dog and Mischa, the dog bit Mischa multiple times.
In shock, Electra rushed her wounded dog to Dove Lewis Veterinary Emergency Hospital.

Surgery was performed on Mischa’s puncture wounds, and after 19 hours at Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital, Electra took her home.

Three days later, Electra noticed Mischa was in a lot of pain, inspected the wounds, and saw pus and drainage oozing from the surgical site.
Electra rushed her back to the veterinarian hospital, where Mischa then had emergency surgery at 2:00 pm. Her wounds were MUCH deeper than was originally thought (the doctor said 2.5-3 inches deep), and in addition, she had separated tissue that was necrotic. Mischa came out of anesthesia fine and spent 2 days recovering from that surgery in ICU.

The ICU vet allowed Mischa, although she’s quite delicate, to go home Friday evening. She has a drainage tube which Electra must empty multiple times a day, as well as 4 different medicines to give her around the clock.
Hopefully, Mischa will continue to heal and fight the additional infection she developed.
The culture results to see if there are any other pathogens from the other dog will be available next week.

Electra was very reluctant to let me request some financial assistance for Mischa’s urgent emergency care, subsequent surgeries due to complications, hospital stays in the Intensive Care Unit, as well as eventual outpatient follow-up care during her road to recovery.
Amye and I convinced her that friends want to help friends. That’s how it’s supposed to be! When Mischa’s condition became gravely serious and the overwhelming medical costs began to climb, we convinced our friend to accept any possible help available.

Any financial support you would like/are able to extend to help would make all the difference in Electra’s and Mischa's lives right now.

I will update this page as Mischa’s healing progresses.

On Electra’s behalf, thank you for following this unfortunate incident and much appreciation for the support of friends and mutual animal lovers.
