Adrian's fight for 2025 and beyond

Donation protected
Dear friends

I’m writing with the sad news that our dear friend Adrian passed away this morning (24 November). His family were with him, including his parents who managed to get an earlier flight over from South Africa to be by his bedside.

Adrian was fighting for 2025 and beyond, and he put up an almighty fight.

Thank you all for your generosity. I know it was a great encouragement to Adrian to see people respond with so much love, even people who’d never met him but felt moved to give by his story and who he was.

Now our hearts and prayers are with Angela, little Noah and Adriela and the whole family. We’ll do all we can to remind Adrian’s kids of who he was and how much he loved them, as was his greatest wish. One way we can all pay tribute to his life is by cherishing the moments we have with our loved ones.

Thank you thank you thank you

Dave

We have set up this page to help save the life of our beloved friend Adrian, a 39-year-old normal guy who has been battling a very rare stomach cancer for the past 5 years and has been given just weeks to live. We are sharing his story with you to assist us to raise funds for extra treatment to prolong his life so he can watch and experience his 2 young children Noah and Adriela, grow up. He particularly wants his 2 children to remember him. Adrian watched a TV documentary where a 30 year old woman could hardly remember her father who died when she was just 10. This really affected Adrian and therefore set himself a minimum date of 2025 which is when his daughter Adriela will be 10.

His journey began on 14th February 2011 when Adrian was taken to hospital where they found a tumour on his appendix. In the middle of the night his appendix burst and the cancer seedlings spread all over his stomach. Adrian awoke to find out that he had almost died from what should have been a simple 45 minute procedure.

Cancer

This type of cancer lasts for about 5 years and kills 90% of people that have it. Adrian’s 5 years was up this Valentine’s Day and he has been battling to keep going to see his children grow up. Adrian was told that he would not be able to have children as when they wanted to pursue it they were told that the frozen sample was completely destroyed by the cancer and at another stage he had no sperm (bearing in mind that a healthy sperm count is 20 million).

Treatment

Adrian has endured 11 gruelling operations plus chemotherapy over the past 5 years to remove the cancer but unfortunately it keeps coming back. So he is looking to start alternative treatments immediately, the first of which will cost £10 000 to start with. When he is then fit enough he would need to travel to finish the rest of his treatment which will cost £ 80 000. Adrian would also love to spend his 40th in South Africa with his family but he might need backup treatment so in total we are hoping to raise £ 100 000.

We urgently need to raise money for treatment for Adrian. His medical bills have reached a point where it is beyond what he and his wife can afford to fund on their own. As you can imagine alternative therapy for cancer patients can be very expensive. Adrian is currently on unpaid sick leave and his wife Angela is on maternity leave, so the financial burden on them is extremely tough.
Please help us by spreading Adrian story to others to help get him treated and extend his life for as long as possible. You can do this by making a donation as you feel led, or by sharing or using this page to spread the word. Join the Facebook group for the latest updates.

Thank you so much for whatever support you can offer our good friend Adrian. We will be forever grateful.
