Adaptive Bike for Asher
Donation protected
Asher has MD and he normally uses a wheel chair to get around.
Because he spends most of his time sitting, one of the best ways for Asher to get exercise and get his heart rate up is by riding his trike. When the weather is nice he loves to take it out for a spin around the block. And when its not...we've been known to bring the bikes indoors.
Asher will be 7 in July, and although he has thoroughly enjoyed his trusty Fisher-Price Rock, Roll 'n Ride Trike, he exceeds the age limit by about 2 years. We have tried larger big wheels, we have looked at green machines. We have even considered how we might build our own.
Here is Ash riding bikes with his brother back when he was a bit smaller:

At the Abilities Expo in Chicago, Asher was able to ride an adaptive bike. Smiling ear to ear, he rode the DCP 12 independently across the gym floor.
This DCP 12 bike would also help him to get his legs more fully extended which is very important since muscle tightness is always a challenge.
Here is the DCP 12

We are excited about the possibility of gifting Asher a bike like this. If we exceed our goal we would use the funds for other adaptive equipment to give Ash more independence and the ability to try more things other kids his age are doing.
Thanks in advance for your love and support!
