Help With Dave’s Medical Expenses

So I'm not really sure how these things work but I have heard from friends about go fund me to help people in time of need.  After spending a couple of hours at the hospital with my dearest friend Michelle Jackson's husband Dave, I’ve never felt more compelled to find out how these go fund me things work and figure out a way to help out this family that I’ve known for 25 years. Dave is the neighbor that you wish you had, he will help anyone, the friend you can always lean on and count on, the dad that most kids never experience, a devoted husband an amazing son and the kind of man that makes you want to be a better person. On November 3rd tragedy struck when he was working on some last-minute adjustments on his boys bus for their cross country trip when he fell to the ground in extreme pain where he was taken to Walter Reed Hospital and then airlifted to Riverside Regional due to internal bleeding. He Experienced one of the most unheard of injuries, baffled by surgeons, somehow his pancreas was severed.  Surgeons advised that they had no idea how this trauma could have happened without an actual trauma and that this injury is one that they would typically see from a patient in a major car accident. Once at regional Dave was rushed into the Operating Room. Dave lost a lot of blood and the bleeding was difficult to stop. The surgeons did as much as they could and had to leave his stomach open for 2 days. His family was told  he was critical for the first 24\ 48 hours and due to the injury, wasn't sure if he would be able to eat again. Surgeons had to "starve" Dave for 6 days with no feeding tube to complete tests to make sure that food wouldn't cause any further damage. Dave has faced many challenges along with way and Surgeons have had a difficult time pinpointing what to do next. After many tests, MRI's and CT Scans it was decided that a stent needed to be placed in the Pancreatic Duct so that he could eat again. The stent was inserted yesterday in hopes that his body will now be able to digest food.  Today Dave was running a fever and lots of pain in his stomach. Surgeons continue to be baffled about this blunt trauma that occurred without an actual trauma occuring.  They cant provide the family with any answers and say that this is just a freak thing. This is now day 15 and Michelle has spend every day by his side while new challenges arise.  After spending a couple of hours with Dave to give Michelle a break, I realized that he’s so concerned about everyone else; about being sorry for taking me away from my family, about his mom, Dad, family and friends and how they are coping and feeling bad to have to put others out to be there for him. For as long as I’ve known Dave he’s worked 2 jobs to give the best life possible for his family. The past 2 weeks have been hell for this family with the future still unknown. I can’t sit around and do nothing without helping this amazing family.  The last thing that they need to be worried about at this time is how they are going to pay their mortgage and monthly bills or if they can pay their hospital bills/ air transport which will more than likely be more than a mortgage.  My kids ask for all kind of stupid toys for Christmas that they do not need but this season I want to teach them the spirit of giving and donate some of the money to help a family that has been living a bad dream for the past couple of weeks.  I hope that you will be able to do this too.  Dave has put up an amazing fight and his strength is incredible wanting to get better to get home to his wife and 3 children, Colbey, Trent and Lakyn.   Go Dave... You've got this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
