Jason Cooper was in an automobile accident, on Sunday, June 15th on his way home from work. His truck rolled several times and stopped upside down. Thank goodness he was wearing his seatbelt. He was admitted to the TBICU at UAB hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Jason’s injuries included: broken femur, broken elbow and arm, 11 broken/fractured ribs, fractured clavicle, and multiple fractures on his spine.
Jason’s second surgery was on Friday, 6/20, after which he was put on a respirator and kept sedated to get through multiple surgeries. He was released from ICU on Friday, 6/27 and transferred to another room to access his upcoming rehabilitation. Today, Monday, 6/30, he is being transferred to the Spain-Wallace building where he will begin the very long road to recovery through intensive rehabilitation. His lower spine may need another surgery, but that one is tricky and could be very debilitating. There is definitely a lot of uncertainty at this point, but…
What we do know is this: Jason is lucky to be alive.
Jason will not be able to go back to the job he loved for so many years. However, it is our hope that someday, Jason may be able to do something else in his field.
Jason has been an RN for over 25 years. During covid, he kept on going and spent some time in ICU, doing what he could to save the lives that were put under his care. He has dedicated his life to taking care of others and now my friends, it is his turn to be taken care of.
The bills are piling up, both medical and non-medical. Jason needs your help. Please donate whatever you are able to. No amount is too little or too great. Every single amount is appreciated. If you would like to help but cannot financially, please spread the word on your social media platforms, in hopes that we can raise some money for him.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this worthy cause.
