A Promise Unaffordable To Keep
Donation protected
Being a descendant of Irish and Norwegian immigrants, I’ve always had a virtuous feeling of being welcoming of different cultures in this salad bowl we call Canada. Being accepting and open minded blessed me with my friendship with the homie Mehul, a confident yet reserved international student from south India. Regardless of the political climate now and at the time, friendship overcomes it all.
His wedding is in August this year, on a Tuesday, in India. Like most people today, I get by thankfully…but one or two frivolous decisions and it’s a different outcome. I simply can’t afford to commit $4575 for a 3/4 night trip to his hometown and keep good on the promise I made to represent his Canadian life at his wedding.
I know how unlikely raising funds for this goal will be, but this is my realistic budget of sitting in the middle seat in economy and flying back before the 1st jet lag has even been conquered. I’ll coin the experience- jet lags.
