Saving Karen Liver Transplant
Donation protected
Karen needs a liver transplant in order to save her life. An autoimmune disorder attacked her liver beyond repair. Luckily through the local newspaper, an interview on CBC Radio one, and through facebook ("saving Karen") a donor has come forward. Alana Long (a former student at Carleton Place High School) has been tested in at the Toronto General Hospital and has been deemed a suitable match. While all the medical expenses are paid for the recipient and the donor, the following expenses are not covered:
Accommodations (near the hospital) - up to 6 weeks for recipient, and 4 weeks for donor; transportation; parking in downtown Toronto; gas; food & unpaid wages.
The funds raised from this will be shared between the donor and recipient to cover these costs.
We are waiting for a surgery date, but it looks like it will be this month - April 2018.
Thank you so much to all the people who responded by putting in applications to become a donor, and those not eligible for all their love and good wishes. Alana is a living donor angel!
Also can accept bank transfers [email redacted]
