My name is Vanessa and I'm looking to raise money to help my dad, Juan Antonio Alvergue, pay for his urgent cornea transplant surgery.
Recently my father went through a botched cataract surgery to remove his cataracts in both eyes. The doctors unfortunately managed to damage his right cornea during the operation and now my father is in pain and in danger of losing his vision, or worse his eye, if he doesn't get a full cornea transplant as soon as possible. My family comes from a humble home and even with insurance he will still have to come up with over $4000 for a specialist to perform the procedure. He will also have to miss work for several months while he recovers from the transplant. My dad is the sole provider for the home, so they will be hurting financially during this time.
We are humbly reaching out to friends, family and anyone else willing and able to donate to help save my dads eye. Those who know Juan Antonio Alvergue can tell you how wonderful of a person he is. His warm laugh fills any room and you cant help but smile when you are around him. My dad is a wonderful father, husband, brother and friend to everyone who is lucky enough to know him. He truly has a love for life and an optimistic personality, so it’s that much harder to see him in pain.
We had not seen each other face to face in over 3 years, so I had no idea how bad things were with his eye. The distance is hard enough when they are healthy, but it is multiplied when they are sick. With my parents in El Salvador I can't be there to help them as much as I wish I could, so the best thing I can do is try to help them financially during this difficult time.
Our goal is to raise $6000+ to help pay for my dad’s surgery, medications and recovery time from the operation. It is imperative that he have the surgery ASAP, before further complications arise.
