Send me to 2013 Deaflympics...
My name is Raymonda Yeh and I am delighted to share with you that I have been selected as one of the two first female competitors on United States Deaf cycling team competing at Deaflympics this summer. The Deaflympics will be at Sofia, Bulgaria from July 26 through August 4, 2013. I will be participating in two events:
- 40Km Individual Time Trail
- Road Race
What an exciting dream to pursue, considering that I have 10 ½ weeks left to train and secure funding to participate. Unlike Olympians or Paralympicians whose have their cost fully covered, Deaflympians are required to raise their own funding. USADSF (the National's Deaf Sports Federation) is not able to help out with the expenses for the athletes. Therefore, here is the breakdown of the cost that I need to raise:
$2,500 dollars to be made to USADSF*, the national's Deaf Sports Federation, in order to make this year's Deaflympics possible. This will cover the hotel, local transportation, apparel, international insurance, and daily meals. (Deadline by May 31, 2013)
$2,000 dollars to cover the travel expense to Bulgaria including International shipping & handling for bicycles equipment.
$1,500 dollars to purchase the necessary bicycle equipment to compete (bicycle travel cast, 3T aero, wheels, time trail helmet, time trail aero bar and others).
Your contribution will turn my dream into a reality "“ representing the first Deaf female United States road racers! Donations made directly to USADSF are tax-deductible. Please make a contribution at "Donate" button above and share this page with your friends, co-workers and family. Every donation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your thoughtfulness and generosity! I look forward to representing United States at Bulgaria this summer!
