Historical Learning Experience Campaign
Hello all! As many of you know, I teach third grade at
Patrick Henry Elementary School, and am so glad that you are willing to support
the school's Historic Learning Experience this Spring. From Arlington, the fourth graders will head down
on an overnight trip to Williamsburg and Jamestown to learn about the history
of colonial America.
Because of our proximity to
the Pentagon, a fair number of our students come from military families. Also, a number of our students are
first-generation Americans, and this trip really helps build their pride in
Virginia and America. Needless to say,
all of our students are really looking forward to the entire experience.
The students have to raise
$15,000 for the trip and have a robust schedule of fundraisers lined up,
including soliciting corporate sponsorship from neighborhood businesses. But the reality is that there is only so much
that the school and these families can raise.
We want to ensure these deserving kids can have a great trip, and therefore
Justin and I are turning to our friends for help "“ we know many of you have
kids at their own schools with similar demands, but we hope you can help out
here too. Our students regularly raise
awareness and money for several local and national nonprofits, including the
Wounded Warrior Project, a homeless shelter and the Animal Welfare League. Let's support them as they support so many
others!
Our goal is to raise $5,000
through this effort. Please know that
your individual contributions will collectively guarantee mission success with
this fundraising campaign. And because
we want to ensure that the full amount of your donations go directly to the
historic trip, Justin and I are going to donate $500 to cover all of the
administrative costs of the fundraising (and the remainder will go to the
trip). Also, please note that we will
submit the money we raise to the school in two weeks on February 17, 2014, so
we encourage you to make your contributions today.
Thank you for making this
incredible experience a reality for our kids!
