Our family lost an Angel

Rafael Herrera-Nuñez, my step-dad, was a loving father and husband who loved our family more than anything. On a rainy night of January 12, 2019 he was called to heaven earlier than expected due to a motorcycle accident. My stepdad was only 32 years old, full of life and had recently purchased and new home with my mother for our family on July 2018. He and my mother, Dulce, fell in love at a restaurant both had worked at for 17 years. Of that total time; he and my mother had been married for 15 years. Rafael was a hard worker and provider for his family. He would work all week except Thursdays and a lot of the times he wouldn’t even have that day off. Before leaving from work together with his wife, she asked him to come home with her in their truck and he agreed. Suddenly he changed his mind and left work on his mo-ped. His wife can’t help but to blame herself for the accident that took place. When we further looked into the accident, things just felt like they didn’t add up. The detectives say that Rafael was not hit by another car and suffered trauma to the head. We cannot see how this accident proved to be fatal especially with his helmet on and the mo-ped completely in tact.
Currently my mother and the rest of our family are looking for new work. We previously all worked at the restaurant together, but since the accident, we can no longer stand to be in establishment without being reminded of him.
A week before the accident my step dad mentioned he was going to get life insurance before he left our family. He wasn’t able to because of how busy he always was. This incident has damaged our family both emotionally and financially, due to the fact Rafael was the main provider of our family. Any amount no matter how big or small will help.
,Thank you
