Hi everyone! My name is Rocio Nunez. I am the owner of Midas Cosmetics.
How I started:
I started Midas Cosmetics in November 2018. I was in a very tough spot, financially and mentally. I had $500 left and chose to invest in lashes & glitter. From there, I was able to launch my first palette, Resurrection. I started Midas to be the change I wanted to see in the beauty community. I wanted to give beauty lovers everything they felt was missing from the industry. I want everyone to feel loved, appreciated, and celebrated, and I feel like I’ve stayed true to my mission by making waves in the beauty industry.
The problems I’m facing:
A lot of the operational procedures that I had to learn to run Midas was self-taught. Subsequently, when Midas rapidly grew, I was faced with difficult decisions and limited experience in operational management. I am also losing significant growth opportunities by being unable to fulfill large retailer orders that could put Midas in front of new fans nationally and potentially globally. I cannot accommodate these mass order requests since I do not have enough working capital to fulfill them on Net 30 or 60 payment terms.
While I am grateful for these experiences and where Midas is at, I need additional funding to support our continued growth. I have applied for personal loans, business loans, and grants with little to no luck. I unknowingly took out a loan with highly unfavorable terms to cover my production costs. Unfortunately, due to the unpredictability of Covid and not being able to foresee the global price increases for my materials and production, the repayments of this loan cut into my profit margins severely.
What I’m doing to help Midas:
I recently started a part-time position working with Amazon Flex delivery and Uber Eats & Doordash. I also started applying and interviewing for many jobs to keep Midas going because I am determined to overcome this obstacle.
Why I need your help:
Although I have been doing everything I can to keep Midas alive, one person is not enough at its current stage of growth. I am asking for your continued support of Midas through purchasing from the website or donating here. Every little bit helps take Midas to its next stage, and for that, I am truly grateful for you all!
