Homemade reusable N95 masks

Hi everyone,

We are a group of volunteer sewers in the Bay Area called Masks for Heroes. We are looking for money donations to support our mask making efforts. We are making homemade fitted filter masks for local medical professionals. The masks will be washable and reusable and have replaceable filter inserts. They have been tested to provide 76-87% the filtering efficiency of an N95 mask. *

* 100% pre-shrunk cotton. Machine washable in warm or cold water.
* Nose bridge wire to create a tight fit
* Filter insert can be washed gently by hand and re-used approx 5 times before it loses efficacy.

The masks by themselves with no filter insert have a filtering efficiency of 52% of an N95 mask.

We are asking for community donations to help cover the costs of the masks. If you can donate even a small amount, we would be deeply grateful. All costs are coming out of our own pockets right now.

Every $120 you donate will allow us to make 100 masks for health care professionals.

* Testing done by Suay Sew Shop in LA.
