Joseph Michael Cerrito Foundation: Fighting the Fentanyl Epidemic

Hi, my name is Anthony J. Cerrito III, and I’m reaching out to share a deeply personal story about my brother, Joseph Michael Cerrito, whose life was tragically cut short by fentanyl. Through his loss, I’ve realized the devastating impact this epidemic has on families across the nation. In his honor, we’re launching the Joseph Michael Cerrito Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting this crisis head-on and saving lives.

Joseph’s Story

Joseph was more than my younger brother; he was my best friend, my inspiration, and a beacon of strength and resilience. Life wasn’t always easy for him, but he faced every challenge with courage. After struggling with addiction in his past, he worked hard to rebuild his life.

Joseph became a passionate fitness trainer, dedicating himself to building his body and mind. He was on the verge of launching his own fitness brand, Forza, and was thriving in ways that made our family so proud. Like my mother often told him, “The best days of your life are right in front of you.”

But one bad day can change everything. In a moment of vulnerability, Joseph turned to an old habit, not knowing it would be his last. What he didn’t realize was that fentanyl—an incredibly potent and deadly substance—was lurking. It only takes an amount smaller than half a pinky nail to end a life. For Joseph, it was a fatal mistake.

Why We’re Raising Funds

We’re turning our heartbreak into action. The Joseph Michael Cerrito Foundation will focus on awareness, prevention, and support to fight the fentanyl epidemic and ensure that no other family has to endure this kind of loss.

Here’s how your contributions will make a difference:
1. Free Narcan Kits: Distributing life-saving Narcan (naloxone) kits to businesses, schools, and community centers.
2. Drug Testing Supplies: Providing free test kits to detect fentanyl in unregulated substances, helping to prevent accidental overdoses.
3. Educational Programs: Hosting workshops and community events to educate the public on fentanyl’s dangers.
4. Advocacy: Fighting for policy changes to make Narcan and testing supplies widely accessible, while pushing for stricter opioid regulations.
5. Support for Families: Offering resources to families navigating addiction and recovery, empowering them with knowledge and tools to protect their loved ones.

The Fentanyl Crisis in America

Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18–45, taking the lives of over 75,000 people each year. This epidemic surpasses fatalities from car accidents, COVID-19, and other leading causes. What makes it so dangerous is its presence in counterfeit pills, marijuana, and other substances, often without users knowing it’s there.

The fight against fentanyl is urgent, and the time to act is now.

How You Can Help

Your donation, no matter the size, will directly contribute to saving lives. Here’s what your support can do:
• $25: Distribute a Narcan kit to a school or business.
• $50: Fund educational materials for a community workshop.
• $100: Provide 10 drug testing kits to at-risk individuals.
• $500: Sponsor an entire awareness campaign in a local community.
• $1,000 or more: Help us secure resources for large-scale policy advocacy and public events.

If you’re unable to contribute financially, you can still help by sharing our story, volunteering with the foundation, or spreading awareness about fentanyl in your community. Every action counts.

Joseph’s Legacy

Joseph was a man of gold—dedicated, strong, and full of potential. He may no longer be with us, but his story doesn’t end here. Through this foundation, we’ll carry on his legacy by creating a safer world for others.

Together, we can fight this epidemic, protect our loved ones, and ensure that Joseph’s passing was not in vain.

Thank you for your love, your support, and your commitment to making a difference.

With gratitude,
Anthony J. Cerrito III
