Jeanette Lopez & Her Family Need Our Support

Donation protected
Jeanette Lopez Salgado is a woman who most would describe as "strong", "an energetic soul", "loving", and "positive". She is a devout Catholic, a caring person, family-oriented, and loved by many. She is my mother, and now more than ever needs help and prayers from family, friends, and anyone who has had the pleasure of knowing her throughout the years. Our unfortunate nightmare started in March/April 2020, where she was due to receive what we thought was a non-invasive surgery for gallbladder issues. The surgical doctor found a suspicious mass and less than a month later was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer) at stage-4, metastatic to the liver. This beast of a cancer is extremely rare, with only 1 in 100,000 cases diagnosed a year in the U.S. alone. Hard to treat, and hard to detect. A huge blow to our family. She went in with a fighter mentality and completed 3 chemotherapy sessions, unfortunately the gem/cis didn't help and she is fighting for her 2nd opinion possibilities which we are currently exploring and waiting approval for.

Jeanette and her husband, who have known each other for nearly 45 years, came to the U.S. in the late 80s, escaping a war-ravaged Nicaragua. They were granted political asylum, and she eventually became a citizen. They worked hard, as a team, and provided their children with a better life than the one they had back in their homeland. Something all 5 of their children appreciate and thank them for. Unfortunately not being able to work, her husband is currently the sole income-provider in the household, where they reside with their two youngest children (18 and 14 years old). The Lopez household now has medical bills coming in, the worry of paying rent to keep a roof over their heads, and a lot of financial worry and uncertainty due to the growing costs. Worries and stresses no family should have to go through at a time when they should be treasuring what time they have left together, to heal and support each other.

I would like to take this time to thank her co-workers, friends, and her work for keeping her and our family in their prayers, as well as the flowers that you all have sent/dropped off. We do ask for some privacy, as Jeanette is currently not in a good enough state to see or speak with anyone at the moment. Due to this reason, and her being extremely at-risk during this Covid-19 epidemic we're going through, please do contact me directly if you would like to send flowers or send/drop anything off. I will be happy to work with you to make sure she receives it. Our entire family would like to say thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for all the kind words, prayers, and well wishes we have received via texts, messages, and facebook. Although she can't reply, she holds you all very dearly in her heart and appreciates everything.

We know times are tough for a lot of people, so any donation whatsoever will be a shining light to our family at this point in time. All donations will go to help the Lopez family deal with the repercussions of her diagnosis. To rent, utilities, food, medical bills, any items to allow Jeanette to be the most comfortable she can be, medical equipment/supplies, any medication not covered for her, and if we can't beat this beast, funeral preparations. If unable to help financially, sharing our GoFundMe page link would be an amazing help to get Jeanette's fight and story more exposure.

I am her eldest daughter, now her main caretaker. It has been extremely hard to put all of this into words, and even harder of a pill to swallow. I would just like to show my gratitude to everyone, and I know many people care about her so I will try my hardest to keep everyone here updated on her journey... her fight. Thank you.
