Help Louise to kick cancer’s butt!

Hi, my name is Claire and I’m fundraising for my close friend Louise. A wonderful friend, mother to two young girls, devoted wife, daughter, sister. Louise is also an inspirational and dedicated midwife and teacher. Louise has given so much to others that I thought a fundraiser would be useful given her fight with cancer! Louise had an unexpected stage 2 bowel cancer diagnosis in 2022. Not long ago Louise went through a major operation to remove half of her bowel, where it was then discovered that it was actually stage 3 cancer. Because of this diagnosis, Louise needed intensive months of chemotherapy to beat cancer. Following several chemo rounds unfortunately the 'all clear' never came which meant the cancer was still present and had become stage 4. She also discovered that the cancer had now spread to her liver and is now preparing for more intensive surgery to remove part of her liver. She will have this surgery on the 20th April. Following the surgery Louise will await news of the prognosis and if she needs anymore treatment to kick cancer. Louise has remained so positive throughout this horrendous rollercoaster but this terrible disease has disrupted her working life (Midwifery educator). Especially with the current economic climate no one wants to have money worries when dealing with cancer, and although it seems there is a lot of financial support and grants out there from cancer charities, like Lou, not everyone receives them. After a horrendous year, Lou is facing the prospect of going onto half pay before she is well enough to return to work. She has been the most inspirational and positive soul dealing with this - laughing and smiling her way through much of it. Louise hula hopped just two months post bowel surgery successfully raising over £1600 for MacMillan. Her girls raised over £100 for Christie’s too (Go team Speakman!) I know Louise is extremely positive (she’s always bubbly) but even superheroes need support too! This fundraiser is to ask for any support possible from friends, family, colleagues (past and present) and wider community to ask politely whether you could spare any pennies big or small to support Louise and her lovely family. This would help to reduce some financial worries and help her to focus to kick cancers butt!
