Empezamos la recaudación para poder finalizar el refugio donde tenemos ahora mismo los árboles que empezamos a germinar meses atrás
La idea es construir un refugio para cubrir y proteger estos árboles que poco a poco han ido creciendo y que, por una parte, empiezan a necesitar más espacio ya que sus raíces se están expandiendo en el interior del suelo. Si esperamos mucho, corremos el riesgo de que no sobrevivan cuando los movamos en un futuro a unas macetas más grandes ya que las raíces se romperían.
Por otra parte, y dado la gran participación por parte de los jóvenes del pueblo de Porli, queremos crear un espacio donde poder reunirnos previamente a las actividades que se llevan a cabo semanalmente (recogida de residuos en las calles y cuidado del vivero mismo) y hacer talleres educacionales a nivel medioambiental.
El material que se necesita para la construcción del refugio es:
30 láminas para el techo = 30€
2 cajas de papel de lijar = 20€
3 paquetes de clavos = 10€
4 latas de pintura = 35€
60 metros de cable eléctrico = 60€
5 bombillas = 25€
5 interruptores = 10€
5 cepillos = 5€
Para el trasplante de los árboles:
Macetas para 600 árboles = 30€
Sustrato + transporte = 75€
Este proyecto es muy importante para nosotros ya que se empezó en Agosto del 2019 en Sumatra mientras estaba viviendo allí y desde el principio los chicos y chicas de la comunidad de Porli me pidieron colaboración y ayuda para hacer algo contra el gran problema que hay con la producción de aceite de palma y la generación de residuos.
Con la idea de concienciar a la gente del pueblo, empezamos a hacer recolectas de residuos no orgánicos por las calles de la comunidad de forma mensual y a construir un pequeño vivero con árboles autóctonos con la intención de, en un futuro, poder proporcionárselos a los pequeños agricultores de la comunidad que hoy en día tienen plantaciones de aceite de palma ya que éstos en su día fueron mal aconsejados por el gobierno en invertir en esta industria y hoy en día, a parte de no darles absolutamente ningún beneficio económico, suponen un gran peligro a nivel medioambiental.
Nuestra intención, y ya pactado con ellos, es que poco a poco eliminen las palmeras aceiteras de sus terrenos para sustituirlos por árboles autóctonos de forma que no solo va a beneficiar al medio ambiente sino que ellos van a poder sacar una mejor rentabilidad.
¿Por qué las palmeras de aceite de palma son un peligro medioambiental en Indonesia y Malaysia?
Primero de todo porque esta especie de palmera en concreto no es autóctona, lo que significa que ha sido importada y altera todo el ecosistema, eso por una parte.
Por otra, debido a la gran demanda que hay se está produciendo una tala de árboles inmensamente extensa, lo que significa destrucción de la selva y de hábitat para el resto de seres vivos produciendo que muchas especies se encuentren en peligro de extinción.
Y por último, la palmera tiene unas raíces muy extensas que producen la infertilidad del suelo a todo su alrededor y por tanto no da oportunidad a que otras especies de árboles y plantas crezcan a su alrededor.

If we wait too long, we take the risk they will not survive when we move them to larger pots in the future as the roots will be broken.
On the other hand, due the great participation by the young people of Porli village, we want to create a space where we can meet before start the activities that take place weekly (waste collection in the streets and care of the nursery itself) and do environmental educational workshops.
The material that is needed for the construction of the shelter is:
30 roof sheets = € 30
2 boxes of sandpaper = € 20
3 packages of nails = € 10
4 cans of paint = € 35
60 meters of electric cable = € 60
5 bulbs = € 25
5 switches = € 10
5 brushes = € 5
For transplanting the trees:
Pots for 600 trees = € 30
Substrate + transport = € 75
This project is very important for us since it began in August 2019 in Sumatra while I was living there and from the beginning the guys in Porli community asked me for collaboration and help to do something against the palm oil industry problem and the big waste generation by people.
With the idea of raising awareness among the townspeople, we began to collect non-organic waste through the streets of the community on a monthly basis and to build a small nursery with native trees with the intention of, in the future, being able to provide them to the community farmers, who nowadays have palm oil plantations since they were once badly advised by the government to invest in this industry and today, apart from giving them absolutely no economic benefits, they are a big risk for the environment.
Our intention, and already agreed with them, is that little by little they eliminate the palm trees from their lands to replace them with native trees in a way that not only will benefit the environment but they will be able to obtain a better profitability.
Why are palm oil palms an environmental risk in Indonesia and Malaysia?
First of all, because this particular palm species is not indigenous, which means that it has been imported and alters the entire ecosystem.
On the other hand, due to the great demand that there is, an immensely extensive felling of trees is taking place, which means destruction of the forest and habitat lost for the rest of living beings, causing many species to be in danger of extinction.
And finally, the palm tree has very extensive roots that cause the infertility of the soil all around it and therefore does not give the opportunity for other species of trees and plants to grow around it.
