Help Andrea Survive
Hi. Thank you for clicking on my add. My friend is in financial trouble because of Covid. I know, she is not the only person, but she is a good person who has killed
herself trying to hold it together and she has just plain, run out of options.
The situation is this: Andrea is a hardworking 52 year old lady who has
been a DJ in southern Florida for the past 18 years. She does a lot of restaurants, bars and small venues, or, she did until the Governor shut everything down. She
also has her chef degree and is able to cook at a professional level, but no one is
hiring personal chefs during this time. Her burden increases-Three years ago a
dear friend of hers (Margo)came to live with her who was diagnosed with MS three decades ago. Margo got to the point that she could no longer care for herself. She had become bedridden. Andrea had Margo move in, that is the type of person she is, she sees someone in need and she try's to help. Margo is on disability which covers her medical expenses with about 90 bucks left over a month. I won't go into specifics but taking care of Margos physical needs is a full time job in itself. Andrea is not eligible for unemployment since she is self
employed. She was thinking of doing Doordash and other delivery jobs, but her
car is not dependable and is constantly breaking down-we have even discussed
her coming to stay with us in Texas, but the car, Margo and her two pet birds
wouldn't make the journey. I left out Andreas two beloved Parrots, named Cali
and Perquell, which she has had since the 1980's. They will be living with her and Margo in her car. We asked if they could go to a bird rescue but Andrea is
frightened they wouldn't be treated well and they would suffer separation
anxiety and die. She has a very soft heart though I don't think her reasoning at
this point is the best.
My spouse and I have paid for two months rent and a few other things, but
that is all we can do. We don't think Andrea is really grasping what it is going to be like,
living in her car with someone unable to walk with specific sanitary needs and her two birds, in the heat, in Florida. We are beside ourselves as what we can do to
help.
We came up with the number $10,000 based on what it would take for her to
survive in her home for another 5 months, when, hopefully the Covid nightmare
will end or at least starting to end and they will start opening things back up.
It would also allow Andrea to keep her DJ equipment, which she is planning on
selling if she cant find a job.
I thought this was going to be easy to write but seeing it down in words is making me very emotional. I know I sound like an idiot. I know this could be written
better, and I know if I knew the right things to say it would be more poignant and more something people would like to help with. I just don't know the right words, and even if I did, I am too upset to put them down in any semblance of being
persuasive. All I know is the fear and anxiety this is giving me. I cant imagine how Andrea feels. She doesn't really discuss it anymore, and it was like
pulling teeth for her to allow me to tell her story.
In closing, If you could please help by donating, you would be helping a
genuinely good person, with a kind heart out of a terrible situation.
Also, Andrea lives in the Fort Lauderdale area. If you would possibly have any
type of legitimate employment options for her, please contact me.
