My dog means everything to me, my family,and my students. Seeing her in pain has been one of the hardest experiences of my life. She got loose from her leash and was outside for just a few minutes before tragedy struck. As she was making her way back home, someone sped down the street, swerved, and hit her. Shockingly, another vehicle, moments later and ran over her a second time, leaving her trapped under his car before reversing to get off of her. The injuries she suffered are severe—her back right leg and all her paws have been affected, and her front paw has an open wound so deep that her muscle tissue is exposed. I rushed her to the emergency vet, but due to financial limitations, she was only able to receive medication for her pain and injuries. She is now barely eating or drinking and struggles to walk or stand, forced to rely on just three legs.

After the accident, I addressed my neighbor about covering her medical expenses. At first, he agreed to make payments, but after a few visits and discussing a contract, he changed his mind and claimed he wasn’t at fault. I offered to show him video footage proving he came back and ran over her a second time, but he refused to watch it. I have a police report documented and am working on taking legal action to hold him and the other driver accountable.

Every day, I worry about her comfort and her future. She urgently needs x-rays and MRIs to determine the full extent of her injuries, as well as treatment for her open wounds. If she needs ongoing care, I want to make sure she gets everything necessary to recover and live a happy life again. Any support you can offer would mean the world to us.
