A would_be Scientist Caught up in a Deadly War

Hi, my name is Mohammed Awad. I'm a Palestinian living in the UK. I'm raising this campaign on behalf of my friend's wife Alaa; Alaa is a mother with two awesome kids. She's now living in a tent with her kids and three cousins. She hopes to fulfill her son's wish to get back to school again. Here is what she has to say about her story.

My name is Alaa Khader. I'm 28 years old. I used to live in peace with my family when the war started, our life became upside down. I had to evacuate 3 times until I found myself living in a tent with less access to food, water, and hygiene. My husband and I have planned a great life for our two kids, but the war has crushed our house and dreams.

We taught our kids a second language and we directed them to their passion towards science. Amir is six years old. He is fond of science, especially bugs. He knows tens of bug species; how and where they live. He is also interested in dinos. He always amazes us with new information about dinos from the videos he watches on YouTube.

Two months ago, he was so sad because he hadn’t had his birthday party, but I decided that MERO deserves to be happy like every child in this world so I gifted him a humble present; a present which he adores and loves the most, I bought him a book about core science.

Every day, my husband and I teach him three pages, and now we are about to finish the book. We are so happy because even during this terrible time, we still manage to teach and educate our kids.

Mero's wish is so simple, he wants to pursue his dream to become a bug scientist, and sadly the war made it impossible to achieve. My close family and three cousins want to go to Egypt, so Mero can get back to school and achieve his dream.
