Send Shaqeem to Howard University

My name is Shaqeem Clarke and I am a 17 year old Senior at the High School of Computer and Technology in the Bronx, New York. Having applied and received acceptance at Howard University for the Fall Semester 2014, my family members and I were ecstatic with Joy and excitement. This news was the best I've ever heard, especially since Howard has always been the University of my dreams. I was the happiest person in the USA...until I received the financial aid package! And REALITY STRUCK!
I am the eldest of three children living in a single parent household with my siblings aged 14 and 4 years. Our Hero -- our Mother, barely makes the monthly expenses. So how could a young, gifted, black man like me make it to Howard University on my Mother's wages and my part-time job?
At home and at school, I take any responsibility doled out to me very seriously. A task started is a task completed. My peers are often amazed at my ability to finish what I start, and as one committed to be a great role model for my siblings, friends, and people in my community, I must be reliable, as well. As such, in my Peer Group Connection at school, I have assisted with planning and coordinating presentations; mentoring and tutoring freshmen students; and helping them adjust to high school life.
In the areas of Community Service, I have participated in an autism walk to help to spread awareness of the extreme behaviors; as well as assisting the youngsters with their homework.
I appeal, therefore, to all visitors to this site to donate financially to my worthwhile cause. My goal for the first school year is approximately $US23,000. Any amount donated would be greatly appreciated and I thank you for your anticipated consideration.
