Distribution of Books and Solar Panels
Donation protected
We are in the process of establishing 154 new libraries - one in every high school in Singida Region - and need your help to finish this goal. The books have been donated by Books for Africa and their partners, such as General Electric, Out of Print, and the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation. The solar panels have been donated by the Bourke Family Foundation. The local government has donated a classroom in every school soley for the purpose of becoming a lbrary as well as transportation of the books. Local communities are providing the furnishings for the library. PEN Trust is providing their sevices free of charge.
The piece that has fallen through the cracks is the transporting of the books to Singida Region and to the individual schools and that is where we need your assistance. Singida is a bit smaller in size than the US state of West Virginia to give you an idea of the area we are covering. PEN Trust survives off a very small budget with two volunteers for the past ten years. Unfortunately, we are unable to cover all of these expenses ourselves at this time.
Help us get the books out of warehouse and into the hands of students and teachers!
