Hurricane Relief for Grand Bahama (by: @ElvisVB)

To whom it may concern.
My name is Elvis V Burrows and I am an Olympic Swimmer from Freeport, Grand Bahama, The Bahamas. I swam at the University of Kentucky and along with Bahamian Olympians Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace (Auburn University), Joanna Evans (University of Texas), Alana Dillette (Auburn University), I launched this GoFundMe to help support the people of my country.
Hurricane Dorian has devastated our hometown and left 80% of the island underwater ,with storm surges reaching as high as 20 feet. It was emotional to see people I grew up with being stranded in their attics for two days as the water continued to rise. In the photo above is my own brother assisting in rescues on his jet ski through flooded neighborhoods. (Photo captured by CNN, Video by MSNBC)
I am making this GoFundMe donation drive because many people have asked where they can donate to directly to a trusted source. Some have even sent me money directly via venmo/cashapp! I figured a GoFundMe is a better and safer channel to go about this.
My father, Rev Dr. Elvis Burrows is the VP of The Bahamas Christian Council and the head Pastor at Central Zion Church in Eight Mile Rock. Together, we will team up and use this nonprofit to distribute the aid throughout the community with the utmost transparency.
Via my Facebook and Instagram page (@ElvisVB), you will be able to track and see visual evidence of where your donations are being used. Immediately, food, water and clothing are of highest priority. After those immediate needs are met, we will begin turning to the arduous and years-long process of rebuilding the island that we love.
If you would prefer to donate to another reputable GofundMe, another organization, or just physical goods instead, below listed are the addresses of trusted sources accepting and distributing donations.
