Hello Family and Friends and everyone that LOVES Aidan Coates's
My name Janis Davey and Lindsay is my cousin with whom I am very close too!
When I heard of this news I was in shock as they didn't know what was in store for Aidan!
I wanted to help the family out in any way I could, so today I ask you for support in helping the family out in the next days, weeks, months and possibly years!
Our Aidan Coates is a beloved family member, a friend to many, a teammate to many more, and a coach for young kids. He is also an only child to his parents Shawn and Lindsay.
Aidan has often put others before himself but now he is the one that needs help.
Aidan was in a very bad car accident April 12th, 2025 and has been in the ICU at the Kelowna General Hospital in critical condition. He is dealing with severe injuries and has a very long road to recovery ahead of him.
Aidan has suffered the following devastating injuries: both of his legs are broken including his right femur and left tib/fib puncturing through his skin. His legs have needed multiple surgeries for each leg, requiring titanium rods and plates and the need for multiple units of blood. He also suffered a dissection of both carotid arteries, fractured pelvis, multiple broken ribs, broken nose, bruised lungs, a pneumothorax requiring a chest tube, a severe head injury resulting in a TBI (traumatic brain injury) causing some bleeding and swelling in his brain and trauma to his right eye and many other cuts, scrapes and bruising including some lacerations to his face requiring stitches.
But through it all, after weeks on life support and not waking up, Aidan is now starting to wake up and is showing a great willingness to fight his way back to us, showing signs of strength and resilience. His brain is slowly responding positively to various verbal and sensory tests but his ability to process, understand and respond are taking time. His vitals are stable, and his heart and lungs are strong.
Aidan isn't just fighting for himself. He’s a teammate to many players in multiple sports including being a goalie in Hockey (for multiple teams in Kelowna ) AND a goalie in Ringette for Vernon, also a Volunteer Goalie coach for some young aspiring goalies in both Kelowna and Vernon, a great friend, and a role model to many. As a 3rd year apprentice mechanic (94% progress to Red Seal), he works with his hands every day to support himself, not just financially, but throughout all other aspects of life. Right now, we don't know when or if Aidan will be able to return to work.
While there is hope, we still do not know the full extent of the long-term impacts he may face as his recovery will take many months of healing, therapies and rehab. With anticipated bills, and everyday expenses, his family and parents who have traveled from Alberta to be by his side needs the help more than ever.
We are humbly asking for any contribution you can make to help Aidan and his family during this unimaginable, difficult and surreal time. Every dollar raised will go directly towards Aidan’s care, rehabilitation, and supporting his family as they navigate the long journey ahead.
Aidan has always been a strong believer in helping people and often the first to show up for others, now it's our turn to show up for him.
Please consider donating and sharing this campaign widely. Your support, love and prayers mean more than we can ever express.
From the bottom of our hearts, we can’t thank you enough. ❤️
