In November 2015, Suzette was unexpectedly diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer.
On February 16, 2016, she had a complete Thyroidectomy: removal of the thyroid.
The surgery seems to be successful. However, Suzette’s future recovery is still uncertain. Additional radioactive iodine therapy may be needed. The Thyroid Cancer may have been the cause of hearing loss in Suzette’s left ear. There may be additional medical procedures
in the future.
All of this comes at a challenging time for Suzette and her family. Suzette has dedicated much of her working career to the Non Profit sector. Suzette’s, employer based health plan, has high deductibles and co-pays. Some care and procedures were not covered by insurance at all. Paid sick leave is minimal.
Suzette’s wife, Tree, is receiving Social Security. Tree is a full time mother and homemaker. Suzette and Tree have a son with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) he is loosing his Social Security in April, when he turns 18, He has medical appointments three times a week. This is an “out of pocket” expense for the family.
Suzette and her family are trying to raise $10,000. This money will help with the medical expenses incurred and help her future recovery.
The family could use any donations as soon as possible.
