Hello world, community, and anyone reading this. My name is Devin Wood. I'm 17 years old in High School, and recently something tragic has happened to my family.

My father was diagnosed with a Carotid Artery Dissection, which in his case, means that his Carotid Artery was torn from the base of his neck and into his skull. He is in immense pain most days, and has trouble sleeping. His job as a carpenter is never going to work for him, as he can't lift more than 8 pounds for quite some time, if not the rest of his life. I'm just glad he's alive, but every day he has a risk of stroking... Or even dying.

He was the only one bringing income to our family, and now that he's out of work, we are broke. We're in the process of selling everything we can, just to try and make enough money to survive. We have medical bills to pay, food necessities, and gas is expensive. We most likely won't have the money in time, and our family may or may not get split up while looking for a home. My sister will be with her fiance and his family, myself with a friend if possible.

I haven't seen my parents smile like the picture I have posted of them in quite some time, even before this happened to my father. We were already financially behind, and now we have nothing. All I want is to see them happy, and feel secure again. It will be a long, winding road to get there, but I know I can do it. I want my parents back, and I want my life back.
