Lung Transplant Recovery For Mom
Donation protected
She made it! 2 1/2 years on the transplant list, over 8 years on oxygen, a battle with quitting smoking and getting healthy, mom finally got the call for her transplant at 7:05pm on Friday November 23rd. After being swept away on the air ambulance to Vancouver General Hospital and spending 8 hours in surgery she survived and is doing well. The next step is getting mom through recovery. She will need to stay in Vancouver for up to 6 months. She will be at Vancouver General for about a month in full time care, after that she will have to stay off site and travel back to the hospital 4 days per week. She will need to stay somewhere clean and isolated where there is no chance of her getting sick. Kiko and I have come up with a plan to rent her an apartment where she could have a caretaker (family member) stay with her full time and help with recovery, when that person is sick or needs a break another family member or friend could step in and stay there too. Our plan is to sell her oxygen machine and batteries that you all generously donated to and put all that money towards the apartment. We are estimating the apartment will cost us 1100$ per month with some utility expenses. Totalling $6600. Our goal is to raise at least $8000 with the sale of the machine hopefully covering 4500$ of the expense. Please help if you can, if you can’t go visit her. She will need all of our love and support. ❤️
