On April 12, 2021, we lost our beloved friend Sharmeen Fasihuzzaman (Shumi), who left behind her husband Mohammed Fasihuzzaman (Fasi) and their 9-year old daughter Aleena Fasihuzzaman (Piyu).   

Shumi has left this world before she could see her adored Aleena reach adulthood. We all know of Shumi's boundless love and aspirations for her daughter. She took delight in many diverse subjects ranging from arts to the sciences, music to fashion, books to sports, and homemaking to outdoor adventure. No doubt she would have encouraged Aleena to explore many avenues if fate had not separated them so tragically in Aleena’s early formative years.    

In Shumi’s memory, we have established a blessing fund for Aleena to symbolize everyone's heartfelt blessings as she starts a new journey in life without the guiding presence of her mother.  The intent of the fund is to nurture Aleena's interests and activities in areas Shumi would have wanted her to explore.  Aleena’s father, Mohammed Fasihuzzaman (Fasi), is entrusted to receive the fund on her behalf and make use of it in a manner that would be in keeping with Shumi's wishes for Aleena.   

Shumi was someone who extended her warmth and generosity to many around her. Not only did she sponsor several worthy charitable causes, she was often the first one to help a friend in need without any hesitation, and would selflessly lend her indomitable energy to raise funds for her sick and terminally ill friends. In the spirit of Shumi, please contribute to this endowment with kindness and generosity, along with your blessings for Aleena.
