Support Connor's Journey to Recovery from Spinal Cord Injury
Donation protected
Connor, an experienced snowboarder, was enjoying a day at Blue Mountain. Halfway through the day they opened a new trail, so he decided to try it out. Half way down he discovered it was all ice. He tried slowing down but just kept sliding, then slipped, caught an edge and flew back landing hard and fast flat on his back. He describes the moment he hit the ground… “I felt magnetized to the earth not able to move anything”. Ski patrol slid him down the mountain on a sled where an ambulance was waiting. They rushed him to the closest hospital where they did a CT Scan and an X-ray. His injuries were too extensive for the hospital to handle, so they airlifted him to st Luke’s in Bethlehem. They did an MRI, and found the C5/C6 discs in his neck were compressing on his spinal cord, causing the paralysis. He had emergency Cervical Spinal Fusion surgery. He was in ICU for 10 days and then Magee Rehab for an intensive 4 week rehabilitation program. Miraculously the surgery worked and he was able to learn to walk and how to move his limbs again. The road to recovery will be long, but his prognosis is good!
Connor is hardworking and a promising young welder. He has aspirations of continuing physical therapy and returning to work and providing for himself once again.
We are asking for his friends and family to rally around him at this time, and help him in any way you can. If you can’t donate, please share!
