Seeks $5 donations for JV Diabetes Camp
Donation protected
We raised our original $1500.00 and met the goal to send two kids to camp!!! How wonderful!
I now raised the ante and want to send a third child to camp.
PLEASE contribute!!
I am raising money...and only seeking a dollar a mile ($5 total) to sponsor me in an upcoming Thanksgiving Day road race. I want to use the funds to send at least one deserving child with Juvenile Diabetes to a special camp this year.
Here is what's posted on my Facebook page regarding the run....
"...So I got talked into (more like bullied into) doing a 5-mile road race on Thanksgiving Day this year. So far I'm up to 4 miles so completing this run shouldn't be a problem, although you can use a calendar to clock my time.
Since I'm committed to the run at this point I think that I should use it to others advantage so I'm dedicating my run (really it's more of a quick walk at this point) to my grandniece Gabrielle in order to raise funds to send kids to Juvenile Diabetes camp.
Each summer my grandneice Gabrielle attends a weeklong Juvenile Diabetes camp where she interacts with other children who have the same affliction. I want to raise money to sponsor at least one other child, who may not be as fortunate as my grandniece to attend this camp.
Here is a link to the camp's information http://bartoncenter.org/bcsite/node/17
So here's the hook:I'm asking my friends to sponsor me for a measly buck a mile to help me sponsor at least one child whose parents cannot afford to sent their own child to camp in 2014. The cost of camp is $750 per child. With enough $5 donations it should allow us to send a deserving child (or 2) to camp this summer.
If we raise enough money to send TWO deserving kids to camp by Thanksgiving then I'll run the race dressed in a pink ballerina costume:pictures will be posted on Facebook if this happens.
Please repost this on your FB page so we can make this a huge success for a deserving child:or two.
You can send your donations through gofundme.com or directly through PayPal.
