Mitch & Maria Fight Back After Fire
Donation protected
Imagine losing your business, water, electricity and sanity in epic Category 5 hurricane Maria and then, three months later, after helping countless neighbors and friends, while trying to open a new, larger business to provide a meeting spot and a delicious locals' and visitors' breakfast niche, the opportunity literally blows up on you. Hardly any of us can put ourselves in such a place, but Mitch Leonard and Maria Kelley are living this nightmare. Four days before Christmas, on 12/21/17, the stove was lit at Casa Verde Hotel (former Saltaire Restaurant location) and exploded, burning both Mitch and Maria badly. Mitch was air flighted immediately to San Juan and Maria was transferred from Mayaguez to San Juan the following day. They are in a room together fighting tremendous pain and serious injuries. Maria has communicated that they appreciate this campaign. They had no insurance and their medical bills will soar and then, of course, they will want to open a restaurant again eventually. Please give whatever you can afford to and share with anyone who has ever had a delicious breakfast burrito, a melt in your mouth Philly style cheesesteak, a mimosa, shot, or beer with Mitch or Maria. If you know them, you love them ❤️ and they need you now.
