Hike to Help

My husband, Aidan and I are organising a fundraiser for FRIENDS OF THE CANCER CENTRE, Belfast.
Along with friends and family, we will hike Slieve Donard on Saturday 25th June 2022.

This date is significant as it marks one year since Aidan’s tumour was removed and one year since he embarked on his successful treatment.
In June 2021, as we were due our third baby, Aidan was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
He didn’t feel unwell and he had absolutely no symptoms, except for a lump that he thought was “no big deal”.
Despite having private healthcare, it was the thorough examination and prompt actions of Dr B Mitchell in Coalisland Health Centre that ensured his tumour was removed quickly and the cancer treated early.

He received outstanding care from every health professional that he met and we will forever be grateful for their care. The prompt treatment has been a great success.

We wouldn’t wish cancer to come to anyone’s door, but the cruel reality is- it might.
According to The Northern Ireland Cancer Registry, 87,000 people are living with a cancer diagnosis. Alarmingly, almost 1 in 2 people may be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives.

The Cancer Centre, Belfast is a centre of excellence in terms of patient care and research.

Every penny we raise will go directly to The Friends of The Cancer Centre.
