Les Mager aka "ELVIS" needs medical expense help
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kendra Taylor; I am the youngest daughter of Les Mager. We live in Nampa, Idaho. Today, I am writing you to share a little story about a man who has given so much to his community, family, other families, and the love of his life, his wife, and now needs us to give back. Les, grandpa, and as others know him, Elvis, was diagnosed on February 14th of this year, 2022, with Lymphoma non-Hodgkins, stage 4 cancer. It has been a devastating blow to the entire family. Doctors are hopeful that his treatments of Chemo will reduce the tumors and put cancer in remission. He has had a port placed, started his first round, and will continue receiving treatment for another six months.
My dad has been a pillar of the community for so many years. Decades really. As an electrical draftsman designed many buildings of the Treasure Valley, he is now retired. He has co-directed with my mom Personal Ponies of Idaho for the last 20 years, raising miniature ponies and gifting them to adults and children with disabilities as companion ponies. He has been an Elvis impersonator for more years than I can count...I have always known my dad as Elvis! He visits nursing homes, birthday parties, weddings, parades, and other events to sing and entertain. He has volunteered his time with the Festival of Trees, Eagle Rodeo, Pink on the Dirt, Rodeo Royalty Events and Judging, Fair Judging, Downs Syndrome Association, YMCA Round-Up, Ride For A Cure (with local motorcycle groups ) and his local food bank. The food bank and providing additional food boxes for those in need has been his weekly event for the last 15 years. I could spend all day writing about his accolades, but he's my dad, my Superman, and my hero. He is a pillar of strength and security, love and hope to all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He watched and cared for my mom every day as she fought colon cancer. When my mom went through her cancer treatment and surgery after surgery, it was a huge blow financially. Now he is retired, and they should be enjoying their retirement. Now he is faced with the same battle. The money raised will cover medical costs for treatment, hospital stays, home health aid, prescriptions and screenings.
I humbly thank you for reading this post, looking at pictures of his life, and donating. I believe God equips the called, and I am taking a leap of faith in the community that my dad has given so much to over the years that we can meet this goal! For all the love and prayers....we need A LOT of those....thank you!
Thank you,
Kendra
