Diving fully in the creative world growing up in Nigeria was never one of deep consideration or doubt considering all its stigma, instead it genuinely felt like I kept choosing myself despite all odds and contributing my discoveries to those around me.
I remember drawing comics and writing a small book as a kid, during each process and chapters, I felt the urge to show friends and especially family to for a second jump into this odd little world I had created and see elements familiar to our real world. Their support and reaction have been great and it ignited the resilient journey I embarked on as an artist.
The biggest motivator working in this difficult industry is because I see it as a big chaotic playground I’m always trying to make sense of or surrender to completely. The cause and effect is my craving to document and share how I interpret it in the most unpredictable, chaotic, vibrant and original ways.
Storytelling fosters the curiosity in me to always explore and learn the world and myself through different creative mediums, I hate being dictated to or limited how I must express my authentic journey. It's been one of tenacity and reminding myself of obstacles that I must keep choosing me.
Now relocated to Utah for a considerable amount of time, the infant and young dream still illuminates bright and has contributed an immense vibrancy and talent to the communities I interact with, my services spanning across the great Salt Lake City.
Discovering painting for short of two years now has been a humble and spiritual experience as it has encompassed other artistic mediums I've worked with extensively to tell stories now with brushes. The reaction towards these bold pieces have been strong, soul pulling and spiritual and I'm honored to be in a key position to listen and create for the people.
I will be for the first time ever running my Solo Exhibit and will be showcasing most of my paintings at FICE Gallery, SLC on the 20th of June and I want to create an experience that catapults the audience and I back to our roots of curiosity and freedom in this big playground of ours. I hope to create an immersive state in space that lets us leave and ask more questions than when we first walked in. This is what stories and art should do.
This will take resources and money and I ask to please support however little you can to this cause of exploration and beauty that night. The amount listed should be enough to bring in an entertaining flow, food truck/snacks and beverages, an experimental audience artist phase, displaying the right way and overall ambience, etc.
I thank you in advance for helping with this cause and hope to see you that night.
