Sail Around the World

Hi, my name is Rachel, and I am fundraising for my sailing circumnavigation. I have the opportunity to sail around the world as a crewmember in the Clipper Round the World race. The Clipper Round the World race is a 40,000 nautical mile sailing race divided into 8 legs and makes 6 ocean crossings. I am beyond excited to be a part of this challenge and do something truly remarkable. I began learning how to sail a couple years ago after my nursing career brought me to the San Francisco Bay Area. I met my partner, Joe, and he introduced me to both sailing and the Clipper Round the World race. I applied to be a part of the race, originally planning on participating in just a single leg. After completing level 1 of the Clipper training program in Gosport, England it was clear to me that this is where I want to be during the next year- on the ocean. I am currently working as a nurse in the San Francisco Bay Area. While I continue to work hard to make this happen, the financial support from family and friends can help make this opportunity possible. The funds will go toward my berth fee, technical clothing for ocean sailing, as well as an occasional hotel to find respite while in port.
