Helping Little Theo

Hi Everyone,

 

We are Chad And Sarah Tkachuk, brother and sister in law to Shannon and Dan Herrick and proud Uncle and Auntie to Jude and Theo. We are honoured to organize this GoFundMe for our sweet little nephew Theo.

 

Theo started to struggle with drinking and gaining weight from week 2 of his life. By 2.5 months of life he had lost too much weight and was hospitalized under failure to thrive, suspected food intolerances and severe reflux and therefore a Nasogastric tube was placed and used on and off for the next two months.

 

Still with further weight loss he then had to have the NG tube in full time. This had both advantages and disadvantages, although he was gaining weight, the NG tube created an oral aversion and he was refusing to take anything by mouth. Theo's medical team then made the decision to have a Gastronomy tube surgery and placement. Following surgery Theo had a few set backs and stopped taking anything by mouth and was completely tube fed.

 

Today Theo has gained enough weight for the next step in his journey which is a professionally monitored tube weaning program called Thrive by Spectrum paediatrics starting December 1st. This type of program is limited in Canada and non existent in Calgary where the Herrick’s live. The program is very costly at $7,000.00 USD. This program will help develop and improve Theo's ability to eat and drink to improve his overall quality of life.

 

This has been extremely hard on the entire Herrick family (especially little Theo) and we would be grateful for any contributions to help support them.
