Nurse Hannah aka “Nurse,” has worked in a small charter school in Newark for 11 years. She takes temperatures, bandages up wounds, gives out ice packs. She makes our kids feel safe.
But she does so much more than that.
Nurse regularly buys and delivers groceries to families in need – she is famous for her tuna sandwiches. Even after students graduate 8th grade, she sends kids money to make sure they can get their hair cut. She does their laundry. But most importantly, she makes each kid in our building feel safe and loved.
Nurse is special. We are lucky to have her, our students need her. But Nurse is in dire need of a new car. Her current vehicle has stranded her on the side of the road during her 1.5 hour commute. Nurse goes above and beyond to ensure our kids are safe, fed, loved, healthy – we have the opportunity to return just a bit of that kindness, and provide her the means to continue making a difference.
Nurse’s dream car is a Subaru Forester– because it is safe, reliable, and big enough to store A LOT of tuna sandwiches.
