When my mom, Gina Dickerson Hunt, was born, my grandfather opened a small life insurance policy to cover final expenses when she passed. He paid into that policy for 50+ years. Since my uncle, John Dickerson, was the executor of my grandfather's estate, he became the beneficiary of that policy. Today, we asked him if it could be used to pay for my mother's final expenses and he said no. Unfortunately, she had no other policies in place to cover the cost of her burial.
