Help Ash beat cancer!
Donation protected
Nearly 13 years ago, my sister Emily arrived home from work to find a small, cold, and motionless kitten on her living room floor. Her cat had gone into labor while she was gone and had abandoned her first born while she was still busy birthing her other kittens. Emily cradled her tiny body and carried her to the bathroom to clean and warm her up, and see if she could be saved. A little warm water, and lots of love later, she had her Ash.
A lot has happened in the last 13 years. Emily has moved multiple times, changed jobs, been through break ups, make ups, surgeries, and everything else that comes with growing up. The one constant in her life though, since the day she brought her back from the brink, has been Ash. She has seen her at her worst and her best. She's been a source of comfort and something to live for when she was at her absolute lowest. Ash has given her so much and asked for so little in return. But it's time for us to repay her.
Ever since her very first day, Ash has been a fighter. And now she's in the fight of her life. Around the end of June 2022, Emily noticed that despite having a voracious appetite, Ash was rapidly losing a lot of weight. After several visits to her regular vet, as well as multiple specialists, and many expensive tests later, Ash was diagnosed with an unusually aggressive small cell gastrointestinal lymphoma.
Just as there was never a question as to whether or not Emily was going to do everything in her power to save Ash 13 years ago, she has been pursuing any and all recommended treatments to try and beat Ash's cancer. She has Ash on special hydrolyzed protein food, probiotics, B12 shots, steroids, anti-nausea meds, and chemotherapy. She takes her to monthly check ups at the Animal Cancer Care & Research Center, and these visits often run close to $1,000.
At this point, Emily has maxed out Ash's insurance benefits for the year, and the financial burden is beginning to take its toll on her. I know she'll continue to do whatever is needed to make sure she can continue Ash's treatments, but I can tell that this is wearing on her, especially around the Holiday season.
To date, Emily has spent over $6,500 trying to save her best friend. She's not sure how much more it is going to cost to keep Ash by her side for as long as Ash is willing to fight, but I wanted to do what I can to help her by creating this GoFundMe. I know she & Ash would greatly appreciate any help at all, no matter how small. Thank you all so much in advance for any help you might be able to provide!
