Hello family, friends and fellow animal lovers. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Stephen Reilly and I live in New York. I'm the proud dad of a Miniature Pinscher. My dogter's name is Zoey and she is 13 yrs old.
I first met Zoey when she was a 3 month old pup. I picked her up and held her in my arms. She turned to look up at me with those big brown eyes and we bonded instantly. It was fate. I took her home the same day and it turned out to be one of the happiest days of my life.
Over the years we've shared so many wonderful moments together. She's brought an abundance of joy into my life. Her smart, spirited and sassy disposition is truly special.
A few months ago, I noticed a bump forming on her snout. When dogs age they get lumpy and bumpy so I didn't think it was anything serious. I took her to the vet to get it checked out and they wrote it off as an infection. They prescribed some antibiotics and sent us on our way. Over the next month the bump continued to grow, along with my concern. I took her back to the vet and asked if they could do an aspiration to identify what it was. When the results came back and the doctor told me it was nasal cancer I was stunned. My heart sank. No pet owner ever wants to hear their pets name and cancer in the same sentence. It's a devastating blow.
After a consultation regarding treatment options the Oncologist hit me with another blow- the cost. She would need a CT scan, a Rhinoscopy, blood and urine tests and chest x-rays. Once they had a complete picture of the cancer then she would need multiple radiation treatments. Total price tag: $10,000. I currently do not have the financial means to cover these costs. I've tried non-profits with the hope of getting some financial assistance, but to no avail. My last Hail Mary is this GoFundMe campaign.
It pains me to stand idly by while the tumor grows knowing there's not much I can do beyond prayers and feeding her a healthy homemade diet to help boost her immune system.
I am humbly reaching out to all of you today asking for a donation to help cover the cost of Zoey's cancer radiation treatment. We are grateful for any amount you wish to donate. Every dollar counts.
I found an amazing radiation treatment center called PetCure Oncology in Clifton, NJ. They are one of the best in the country and have saved the lives of countless cancer patients, extending their lives by years in some cases. If I can raise enough funds within the next 2 weeks I will take Zoey there to start her treatment and put her on a path to recovery.
Thank you all and god bless.
