On December 30th 2019, Joe Giesbrecht had ended his shift at work and while filling his machine with diesel before heading home, a huge tree came crashing down on top of him, due to heavy snow conditions.
With a crushed head and body, Joe was rushed to the nearest hospital over 100km away and was in critical condition.
Joe has undergone several blood transfusions. Both of his lungs collapsed and were punctured. His head and neck were split wide open where he almost bled out and needed 67 stitches. He has 13 broken ribs. His leg was broken in 6 different places, undergoing surgery where a steel rod has been placed. His left arm is severely damaged with ligaments being torn and possible nerve damage. He's been transferred to the hospital in Quesnel where he lives with his wife Yvette, and will be recovering and undergoing extensive rehab.
At 62 years old, Joe will not be able to return to work until he's fully recovered, which will be a very long time. The financial burden of not being able to work and his income no longer coming in, leaves him and his wife Yvette, in a very distressful situation.
My name is Natalie. Joe & Yvette are my aunt and uncle. They are beautiful people and my heart is aching for them as I pray for my uncle to make a full recovery.
We're starting this go fund me page to raise money to help them through this difficult time as they'll need money for bills, food, medical expenses, and more. With the goal to raise 15k or more, this will help take a lot of financial stress off their souls, where they can focus on what matters most, Joe's recovery.
I know they will be forever grateful for anyone's part in helping out and we thank you in advance for your prayers, support and generosity.
If you are only able to share this message, we appreciate your help in getting the word out there!
Sincerely,
Natalie Hayward
