Having Scleroderma with NO Mobility
Donation protected

Manuel Pomar began his battle with Scleroderma(morphea) in 1999, but was officially diagnosed at the age of 13. It first started showing around his ankles, eventually it began to progress throughout his body. It now affects about 80% of his body, being very painful because of the tightening and the chronic wounds that come along with the illness. The skin easily cracks because of the tightening and excessive dry skin. Because of his chronic wounds he's always having to be admitted into the hospital because of infections. In the last 3 years he lost his left leg due to cancer. He was never able to walk on his prosthetic because of the pressure it would put on his stump. He's lost all of his physical mobility. He is now crippled , he can't use his hands properly, he can't stretch his arms out or leg. He depends on family and friends to help him out with everyday normal tasks.
He's had a manual wheelchair since he lost his leg but cannot use it properly. His arms are so contracted they won't allow him to push himself. At times he uses his leg to get around, but that's beginning to be a problem because it's causing his foot to open up with sores. The chair itself is very uncomfortable specially when he is sitting on it for hours at a time. So we've started this page to get him a custom power wheelchair. This power wheelchair will be a lot more comfortable on his body since it will be made custom to accommodate his needs and will prevent him from receiving any pressure wounds. By him obtaining this new wheelchair he will have the freedom to go places, enjoy the outside world and not feel a burden to others having to push him around.
Thanks in advance to all of you who will contribute to this great cause.
