The Erdmann Twins: TTTS Treatment
Donation protected
Hello friends and family,
It was definitely a surprise when we found out we're expecting twins! On Tuesday, we also learned that we're having twin BOYS! Isaac will have little brothers to look after :) Unfortunately, we also received the news that our boys have Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome--a condition where the blood/fluids from the placenta are bypassing one twin and going more to the other. In this way, one twin "donates" and one twin "receives." It is actually the "recipient" twin who is at higher risk due to having to process the extra blood and fluid at a high rate, which puts undo pressure on it's organs: especially the heart. Because of this, we will be going to Denver THIS WEEKEND to be evaluated and more than likely have the laser treatment scheduled. This surgery will essentially "divide" the placenta--leaving each twin to their remaining half. We pray that where the division needs to be made, that there will be enough placenta for each twin to thrive for the remainder of their stay in the womb. We were also informed that Rochelle will more than likely need to be on at least partial bedrest after the procedure for the duration of the pregnancy. This money will help us pay for airline ticket, taxi, and living expenses while in Colorado, as well as help with some impending bills and expenses associated with the appointments, treatment, and loss of work pay. Please keep us in your prayers--which is the most important thing right now. If you can help us financially in any way, we would be so greatful. Thank you for all your love, support, kind words, and prayers.
