Karen's Fight Against Lyme

Many of you may not know that our mother, Karen, has been sick for 5 years. You probably don't know, because as sick as she has been, she smiles and puts other people before herself. Our mother has always been the life of the party. Her smile and laugh lights up the room with excitement and joy. She is a beautiful woman on the inside and the out.
Our mom's sickness started off with very general symptoms. After many blood tests, exploritory procedures, various specialty visits and many years, our mom was diagnoised with Lyme disease.
Lyme is a horrible disease that affects every part of her body; neurological functions, organ functions and daily energy levels. Every day she lives with pain in the back of her head that never goes away, she lives with pain in her organs that increases when she eats, she has episodes of uncontrollable shaking, she has episodes where her heart rate is undectable and her whole body shuts down and she becomes unconscious. She can no longer go to the grocery store by herself without us wondering if she will make it back safe. She had to give up her job, give up family visits and give up doing daily activites for herself because of this terrible disease. She can no longer bless people by being a nurse, she can no longer enjoy playing with her sweet little grandchildren and she struggles to travel even a few hours to visit any family members. This disease is tearing apart her body and mind.
Insurance companies DO NOT COVER the majority of her lyme treatments. Due to 5 years of being sick with little covered by the insurance companies, our parents have racked up a massive debt. Our dad is still working hard to pay off this debt, but it seems to be an endless road.
Currently, our mom is in need of a treatment that will cost $600 per week. It is our mom's last cry for help. She needs to receive this treatment for two months, leaving us with a total of $4,800.00. The doctor is even giving her a huge discount on this treatment because of how desperately she needs it.
As much as we would like to pay for this treatment for our parents, we do not have this kind of money on our own. Our mom has been our strongest supporter in life. She has always been there for us and now it's our turn to be there for her. We are fighting for her and praying that she is healed of this terrible disease! It would be a huge blessing to have this treatment paid for! You may be wondering why we are asking for $10,000 if her treatment is only $4,800. We are praying and hoping that if we exceed her current treatment amount, the rest will be able to go towards paying past medical bills.
We know money is tight for many people. We are asking you to give however you feel led to give, even if it's a small amount. If you cannot give, we are asking for your prayers. Please pray that she is healed of this terrible disease and that we are able to raise enough money to pay for her treatments.
Due to my father's position in the Veterans Affairs, we are not able to accept donations from any VA employees who work in his programs. Such donations put my father in a position that can pose a conflict of interest. However, prayers will be just as greatly appreciated!
