Missions Trip to Liberia!
In November of 2011, God gave me the opportunity
to become involved with a small 501c3 here in Lancaster called C.H.A.P.
(Christian Humanitarian Assistance Program) International who's main focus is
in Liberia, Africa.
Since CHAP was founded in 2002, it has
been providing aid to Liberia, who in 2003 ended a 14 yearlong civil war. The
country had been striped of any worth or pride it could've had, and was left
with a people who were hurting, hungry, and in need of compassion. Since June
of 2011, CHAP has been sponsoring an orphanage called the Liberian Christian
Mission Orphanage in Careysburg, Liberia, about 45 minutes from the capital
city of Monrovia. It is CHAP's heartbeat and mission to show the love of Christ
through empowering the poorest of the poor in Liberia, Africa to embrace
Christian principles, provide basic provisions for themselves and their
families, and have a positive impact on their neighbors and
communities. Through our "Feed A Child" Program with LCMO, and a newly
formed partnership with another organization called Orphan Relief Network (orphanreliefnetwork.org)
we are able to provide LCMO with food and basic toiletry items like soap and
toothpaste, training for their staff to educate the children properly, and a
small stipend for the couple that manages the orphanage. We believe that the 70
beautiful children that live there are apart of the future of Liberia and
restoring the great continent of Africa.
Last February I was able to go on a
weeklong missions trip to Liberia and visit LCMO. Meeting all the children was
one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had in my life, and one that I
think about every day. In June 2013, CHAP is going back to Liberia for another missions trip, and I
plan to go along! But I cannot do it alone. That is why I am asking you to
partner with me not only in prayer, but to consider donating towards my mission
with CHAP serving the poorest of the poor in one of the most devastating
countries in Africa.
The trip will be from June 8th through
the 16th. The trip will include running a Vacation Bible School for the
children at LCMO, teaching basic skills like sewing, gardening, and carpentry, doing
reconstructive work on the orphanage like painting and fixing the roof of any
leaks, etc, and doing street ministry in the capital city of Monrovia. I will
be traveling with a team of about 10 other individuals.
